They did something similar in 1999 when they got to Groznyy still without very much good infantry, so they brought up the SP 420mm mortars and whenever the infantry found Chechen fighters the mortars brought the building down on them.

Your analysis is simply wrong. In the next 60 days you will see it.

Goal is not Harkov, goal is to create a buffer zone of 20KM so that Ukrs cant shell Russian civilians.

Secondary goal most likely to cut Kupyansk down by the river.

And generally to see what AFU will do.

If only NATO respected Rus security concerns all of this could've been avoided, now Ukraine going to be ruined, and we in the west paying for this madness.
